Your man being an alcoholic…Easy ways to get rid of alcoholism.

If someone you love has a drinking problem, you may be struggling with a number of painful emotions, including shame, fear, anger, and self-blame. The problem may be so overwhelming that it seems easier to ignore it and pretend that nothing is wrong. But in the long run denying it will be more damaging to you, other family members, and the person with the drinking problem.

Dealing with a loved one’s alcohol problem can be an emotional roller coaster. It’s vital that you take care of yourself and get the support you need. It’s also important to have people you can talk honestly and openly with about what you’re going through. Alcohol use disorders can affect every aspect and every person in an alcoholic’s life, from their children to their loved ones to the people with whom they work. Alcoholism does not just affect the alcoholic; it affects everything.

However, we should always strive to improve, and breaking a bad habit is a huge step in terms of self-improvement. Drinking too much – on a single occasion or over time – can take a serious toll on your health and your family as well. Alcohol use is on the rise and is a common factor in violent crimes, including spousal and child abuse. Alcohol abuse means having unhealthy or dangerous drinking habits, such as drinking every day or drinking too much at a time. Alcohol abuse can harm your relationships, cause you to miss work, and lead to legal problems such as driving while drunk.

Alcohol addiction, also known as alcoholism, can be a very damaging and even deadly disease. It starts with just one drink and eventually turns into continual episodes of heavy and excessive drinking. While a person may have been able to handle the alcohol early on, the disease will ultimately make them unable to handle or process it normally. Alcoholism is a long-term disease. It’s not a weakness or a lack of willpower. Like many other diseases, it has a course that can be predicted, has known symptoms, and is influenced by your genes and your life situation.

The following could be signs of alcohol addiction.

  • Increased quantity or frequency of use.
  • Higher tolerance when drinking or lack of “hangover” symptoms.
  • Drinking at inappropriate times or places.
  • Wanting to be where alcohol is present and avoiding situations where it is not.
  • Changes in friendships (an alcoholic will choose friends who drink just as heavily).
  • Avoiding contact with loved ones.
  • Hiding alcohol where no one will find it, or hiding while drinking.
  • Increased lethargy, depression, or other emotional issues.
  • legal or professional problems.

It can sometimes be hard to know when you begin to drink too much. Here are some steps which will help you to quit alcohol.

  1. Get rid of all bottles, cans, etc.
  2. Change your attitude about quitting. Adjust your attitude so that quitting is made easier. Your better half wants you to quit; your selfish half wants you to stay the same.
  3. Don’t put yourself with people or in situations where you’re likely to drink. Take care of you! Don’t worry about everyone else right now.
  4. If you are tempted, try to visualize what you might look like totally out of control.Do you really want to be that person again? Don’t fall into the mindset that you’re forever going to be that person. You will forever be an alcoholic, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be a happy, sober, and well-adjusted alcoholic. That’s your goal.
  5. Ask for support. It may be the hardest part of your path to recovery, but telling your family or spouse what you are going through and what you are trying to achieve is a huge step.
  6. Admit-Admit to yourself, and remember it, that there is absolutely nothing in your life more important than this one thing.
